Twisted Ankles
This image is by far one of my favorite shots. This photo is part of an optical illusion assignment where I had to take optical illusion images. My idea of a good optical illusion photograph is that the image has to make the viewer think. If the viewer sees what is happening right away, there is no excitement, but when you have to look for something in the photo, it adds to the over all effect. This photo for me is the perfect optical illusion, because it makes you think. Not only does it take a minute to clue in what is wrong with this photo, but afterwards it makes you take a second look at the photo to decipher what exactly is going on. This specific photo looks as if it is just a girl, obviously in school, at her locker, but when you start to study the photo, you realize something is not quite right. If you notice, the photo looks normal until you see her feet, they appear to be backwards! Then it gets you thinking on how it is that her feet are the opposite way.The trick to this photo is that in reality, the subject is facing the camera. I got my model to put on her sweater backwards and to put the bag on the front of her stomach to make it look like her back, and to finish the look, she swung her hair over her head, to make the whole thing look like she is facing the opposite way, yet leaving a small portion of the photo not quite right to get the "optical illusion" aspect of it.
